Cut Flower Care

By doing the following you will have beautiful flowers for longer!

1. Place flowers in a clean container.
A clean container that is sanitized and free of debris will keep the flowers from premature aging and the stems from getting clogged, which will result in better water intake.

2. Cut about 1cm off the stems before placing in water.
The stems of the flowers dry out a little during their trip home, exposing fresh tissue will help them be able to take up water better. Be sure to use clean and sharp scissors.

3. Don't be afraid to fill the container up with water!
The flowers get pretty thirsty; this is especially true for the first couple of days. Upon arrival, place flowers in a full vase of water. Our flowers are cut and brought to markets or delivered to you very fresh, therefore still very much alive and thirsty!

4. Strip any foliage that will sit below the water line.
Foliage sitting in the water will rot and make the flowers in turn rot. Plus, it makes the water icky and stinky, keeping the water foliage-free will keep the water clear and fresher longer.

5. Don't place flowers in direct sunlight or heat.
The sunlight will signal the flowers to further mature resulting in less of a vase life.

6. Don't place flowers near ripening fruit or vegetables, such as bananas or apples.
The release of ethylene from the fruits/veggies can affect the flowers and cause them to wilt and wither away much faster.

7. Refresh water often!
Give them fresh water at least every 2-3 days.

8. Re-cut the stems when you change the water.
This goes back to exposing that fresh tissue for better water intake.

9. Enjoy!
The flowers are lovingly grown for your enjoyment! Take in all their intoxicating scents and simply enjoy their beauty.
Dried Flower Care

Our dried flowers are great for adding colour to your home through Armidale's cold winter months. These are a few things you can do to keep them looking great into next winter.

1. The flowers are dried so water is your enemy which means keeping them away from humid bathrooms or laundries is important.

2. Keep them away from direct sunlight as over time the sun will bleach the colour from your flowers.

3. Dried flowers are fragile so try to put them on a mantle or shelf where they won't be knocked or bumped.

4. They last so long that they may start to gather dust and maybe even a cobweb or two. You can simply give them a blow to remove dust and be gentle if you need to remove a cobweb.

5. We present our dried bunches wrapped in hessian and tied with string. You can leave this on the bunch as it will let any residual moisture evaporate and allows air to circulate around the stems.

6. Enjoy!
We love the fact that people can still have locally grown flowers in their home through Armidale's winter.
Where do we find Creekland Flowers?

During the growing season (Spring, Summer and Autumn) you can find me at the Farmers Market at Curtis Park in Armidale, Armidale Markets in the Mall and the High Country Markets in Uralla. I sometimes also sell bouquets through local businesses and will post about this on social media beforehand. I currently have a selection of seeds, bulbs and dried flowers stocked by The Clique Curation in the Mall and the Seasons of New England store in Uralla.
A portion of my flowers are grown at my home but I have a larger area on Dumaresq Creek that I am progressively making the focus of the Creekland Flowers operation. At this point there is no point of sale at the site but I am looking to put a farm stand there in the near future.
